Our mission and history
In 2007, Friends Mutual Health Group formed as an association of Quaker organizations to better manage our health insurance costs together. Our mission is to provide a high-quality, reasonable-cost health plan for employees of our member organizations.
FMHG is guided by three important values:
- Mutual aid
Member organizations join together to share the risks and benefits of our health plan. - Integrity
Our group is guided by the practices and beliefs of the Society of Friends while maintaining sound business practices. - Community
We provides our member organizations with collective services, such as employee wellness programs and compliance with the Affordable Care Act.
Collaborating to solve the health care dilemma
Small- and medium-sized nonprofit organizations can find it challenging to navigate the insurance marketplace. Friends Mutual Health Group allows Quaker employers to bypass the marketplace through self-insuring together with other Quaker organizations.
Through our collaboration, we have reached financial stability with our health plan and have gained excellent performance in managing costs. We believe we can help other organizations as we’ve helped our current member organizations to offer sustainable health benefits. We welcome any Friends-related nonprofit seeking a competitive, comprehensive health plan for its employees and their dependents.
